The Hunger-Free Summer for Kids Act

The Hunger-Free Summer for Kids Act – recently introduced legislation from a bi-partisan group of senators to address childhood hunger during the summer months. Missouri has been a very successful demonstration site since 2011 for the USDA Summer EBT for Children project. The model that Missouri has demonstrated, using the SNAP (food stamp) EBT card system was not included in this proposed legislation. Missouri’s successful implementation of SEBTC for the 4th summer provided valuable early experience with managing other models for feeding hungry children during the summer.
